The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, popularly known as IBPS is an autonomous body that conducts recruitment examinations for all Public Sector Banks (PSBs) except SBI. The institute has offered testing and assessment services for numerous banks over the years using various tests. The institute was established in 1984, and a board of nominations from various banks and government agencies, including the RBI, the Ministry of Finance, NIBM, and IBA, among others, oversees its operations. The unified tests for all public sector banks began on a small basis that same year. Beginning in late 2000, the tests were administered online. To fill positions at different levels within PSBs, including Probationary Officers, Clerks, and Specialist Officers, IBPS exams are held.

Exam Process:

At first, only a small number of public sector banks were covered by the tests. Only in 2000 was the entire test and registration process made accessible to the general public.
