1) Bajrang Punia defeated Lachlan McNeil of Canada to win gold in men’s freestyle 65kg category wrestling at Commonwealth Games 2022.
➨With gold in CWG 2022, Bajrang completed a hat-trick of CWG medals as he also won gold in 2018 Gold Coast and silver in 2014 Glasgow.
2) The Union environment ministry announced that India has added 10 more wetlands, taking the total Ramsar sites to 64.
➨The new sites include six wetlands from Tamil Nadu and one each from Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
➨The new Indian wetlands are Tamil Nadu’s Udhayamarthandapuram Bird Sanctuary, Koonthankulam Bird Sanctuary, Vellode Bird Sanctuary, Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, Gulf of Mannar Marine Biosphere Reserve, Vembannur Wetland Complex, Madhya Pradesh’s Sirpur wetland, Karnataka’s Ranganathituu BS , Nanda Lake of Goa and Satkosia Gorge of Odisha.
3) Wrestler Anshu Malik won silver in the Women’s Freestyle 57kg category final at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
➨In 2021, Anshu became the first India woman to win a silver medal at the World Wrestling Championships. The 20-year-old is also a three-time medallist at the Asian Wrestling Championships.
4) Wrestler Divya Kakran beat Tonga Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalie in the women’s 68 kg freestyle category, while Mohit Grewal bettered Jamaica’s Aaron Johnson in men’s 125 kg category to win a bronze medals in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
5) Indian Oil signed an MoU with the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) for the “transcontinental relocation of ‘Cheetah’ in its historical range in India”
6) Murali Sreeshankar created history after winning the silver medal in the men’s long jump event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
➨Before Sreeshankar silver, Suresh Babu had won a bronze in the 1978 edition of the games in the men’s long jump event.
7) Ministry of Culture has released the third Comic book on stories of 20 Tribal Freedom Fighters at Tiranga Utsav celebration in New Delhi.
8) Russia became India’s third-largest coal supplier in July, with imports rising by over a fifth compared with June to a record 2.06 million tonnes.
